He played hockey in 1988 for CFB Esquimalt in Germany, and fastball for Victoria Payless in 1991 and 1992, and won world championships in 2002. Until present days, Shayne supports community groups, Sooke Food Bank, Sooke Salmon Enhancement and many sports teams on lower Vancouver Island. He is still constantly involved in sports, has sponsored multiple events and activities, as well as supporting the whole real estate industry by providing mentorship to his fellow real estate colleagues on a daily basis.
